👩🍳 Instructions
- 1 Dissolve the yeast in the warm coconut milk, then let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy
- 2 Mix together the all-purpose flour, tapioca flour, sugar, and salt
- 3 Add the egg and vanilla extract, then stir to combine
- 4 Pour in the yeast-coconut milk mixture and knead until smooth and no longer sticky
- 5 Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour, or until doubled in size
- 6 Punch down the dough, take a small portion, and roll it into a ball
- 7 Poke a hole in the center with your finger — shaping it like a mini donut
- 8 Heat the oil over medium heat
- 9 Fry the ali agrem until puffed up and golden brown
- 10 Flip occasionally so they cook evenly
- 11 Remove from the oil and drain
💡 Tips
• The coconut milk should be warm (not hot) so the yeast activates properly
• Don't flip too often while frying so they keep their nice shape
• Best enjoyed in the afternoon with coffee or sweet tea
