  • 150 grams Rice Krispies cereal (crispy rice cereal)
  • 200 grams dark cooking chocolate
  • 100 grams smooth peanut butter
  • 30 grams margarine
  • 3 tbsp honey or simple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp fine salt
  • 50 grams white chocolate for topping (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped roasted peanuts (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1 Prepare a medium-sized square baking pan and line it with parchment paper or plastic wrap so it's easy to remove later. Set aside.
  2. 2 Melt the margarine, cooking chocolate, and peanut butter in a small saucepan over very low heat while stirring continuously, or use a double boiler over a pot of hot water so the chocolate doesn't seize.
  3. 3 Once the chocolate mixture is smooth and glossy, turn off the heat. Add the honey and salt, then stir until fully combined.
  4. 4 Add the Rice Krispies cereal into the chocolate mixture little by little, gently folding with a spatula so the cereal doesn't break, just enough until every piece is coated with chocolate.
  5. 5 Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, then flatten and press it down firmly using the back of a spoon or a flat spatula.
  6. 6 If desired, melt the white chocolate and drizzle a thin layer over the top, then sprinkle with chopped roasted peanuts for extra texture.
  7. 7 Place the pan in the fridge for at least 1-2 hours until fully set and firm.
  8. 8 Remove from the fridge, cut into squares or bars as desired, and serve cold.

💡 Tips

• Use very low heat when melting the chocolate so it doesn't clump or burn; use a double boiler technique if needed.

• Don't stir the cereal too vigorously so it stays crispy and doesn't break into crumbs.

• Press the mixture down firmly so the pieces don't fall apart easily when cut.

• Store in an airtight container in the fridge; it will keep for up to 5 days.
