  • 250g low-protein all-purpose flour
  • 180g salted butter
  • 80g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: chocolate sprinkles, colorful sugar sprinkles, sliced almonds

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1 Beat the butter and powdered sugar until pale and creamy
  2. 2 Add the egg yolk and whole egg, then the vanilla extract, and beat until well combined
  3. 3 Sift the flour and add it to the batter
  4. 4 Fold with a spatula until just combined
  5. 5 Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes
  6. 6 Roll out the dough to a thickness of 5mm on a lightly floured surface
  7. 7 Cut into various shapes using cookie cutters
  8. 8 Arrange on a baking sheet and add toppings as desired
  9. 9 Bake in a 160°C (320°F) oven for 12-15 minutes, until the edges turn golden brown
  10. 10 Let cool on a wire rack

💡 Tips

• Dough that's been rested in the fridge is easier to cut and won't spread while baking

• Use salted butter for a hint of saltiness that balances out the flavor nicely

• So much fun as an activity to do with the kids on a day off
