👩🍳 Instructions
- 1 Soak the dates in hot water for 15 minutes until softened, then blend together with the soaking water, cinnamon, and salt until you get a smooth paste. Set aside — this will replace the coffee syrup.
- 2 In a separate bowl, whip the liquid whipping cream and powdered sugar on high speed until soft peaks form, about 3-4 minutes.
- 3 In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and lump-free, then gradually fold in the whipped cream mixture with a spatula, stirring gently until fully combined and smooth.
- 4 Dip the cookies one by one into the liquid milk just briefly (not too long, so they don't fall apart), then arrange them at the bottom of serving glasses as the first layer.
- 5 Spread or drizzle a thin layer of the date paste over the cookie layer, smoothing it out with a spoon.
- 6 Add a layer of the cream cheese mixture on top and smooth it out. Repeat the layers of dipped cookies, date paste, and cream mixture until the glasses are almost full.
- 7 Sift cocoa powder over the top of each cup as the final layer, just like a classic tiramisu.
- 8 Cover the glasses with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight, so the cookies soak up the flavors and the texture sets perfectly before serving.
💡 Tips
• Don't soak the cookies in the milk for too long, as they'll fall apart and make the texture overly mushy.
• Use room-temperature cream cheese so it's easy to beat until smooth without lumps.
• The longer it chills (at least overnight), the more the flavors will meld together and the firmer the texture will be when scooped.
• You can swap the cinnamon for a splash of vanilla extract if you prefer a more neutral flavor.
