  • 300 grams dark cooking chocolate
  • 1 can (390 grams) sweetened condensed milk (white)
  • 50 grams unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp instant coffee or espresso powder
  • 1 tbsp hot water
  • 1/4 tsp fine salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder
  • 50 grams chopped almonds (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1 Dissolve the instant coffee or espresso powder in hot water, stirring until smooth with no lumps. Set aside.
  2. 2 Prepare an 18x18 cm (7x7 inch) square baking pan, lining it with baking paper so it covers the sides for easy removal later.
  3. 3 Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces so it melts quickly when heated.
  4. 4 Over low heat, warm the sweetened condensed milk and butter in a saucepan, stirring constantly until the butter melts and everything is well combined.
  5. 5 Add the chopped dark chocolate, stirring constantly over low heat until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture becomes thick and glossy.
  6. 6 Turn off the heat, then add the coffee mixture, salt, and vanilla powder. Stir quickly until fully combined with no coffee streaks left.
  7. 7 Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
  8. 8 Sprinkle the chopped almonds on top, pressing lightly so they stick.
  9. 9 Let it cool at room temperature for a bit, then refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until completely firm and set.
  10. 10 Lift it out of the pan using the baking paper, then cut into squares as desired using a knife warmed with hot water for clean, neat cuts.

💡 Tips

• Use dark chocolate with at least 55% cocoa content so the bitterness balances nicely with the sweetness of the condensed milk.

• Keep stirring the mixture constantly while heating so the chocolate doesn't burn or turn grainy at the bottom of the pot.

• If you like a stronger coffee flavor, add another 1/2 tbsp of coffee, but reduce the hot water slightly so the texture doesn't get too runny.

• Store the fudge in an airtight container in the fridge; it will keep for up to 2 weeks.
