A practical breakfast you simply mix the night before and store in the fridge — no need to turn on the stove, let alone the oven. The combination of soft oats, creamy milk, sweet banana, and a sprinkle of chocolate will get your morning off to a great start. Perfect for anyone who's busy but still wants a nutritious, filling breakfast.

  • 60 grams rolled oats
  • 150 ml milk (cow's milk or almond milk both work)
  • 3 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1.5 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 0.5 ripe banana, sliced for topping
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bar
  • 1 tbsp chopped almonds or granola
  • 1 pinch a pinch of salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1 Prepare a jar or lidded glass container that will fit in the fridge.
  2. 2 Add the rolled oats, chia seeds, and a pinch of salt to the jar, and stir to combine.
  3. 3 Add the milk, plain yogurt, and honey to the jar, then stir until all the ingredients are well combined and no oats are clumping at the bottom.
  4. 4 Add the mashed banana and stir again until evenly mixed and the color turns an even yellowish hue.
  5. 5 Seal the jar tightly and store it in the fridge overnight, or for at least 4 hours, so the oats can absorb the liquid and become soft and creamy.
  6. 6 Before serving, take it out of the fridge and stir briefly. If it's too thick, add a little more milk to thin it out.
  7. 7 Top with fresh banana slices, chocolate chips, and chopped almonds.
  8. 8 Serve immediately while cold — you can even eat it straight from the jar for an on-the-go breakfast.

💡 Tips

• Use rolled oats, not instant oats, so the texture isn't too mushy and still has a bit of chew.

• You can make several servings at once for meal prep; store in the fridge for up to 3 days in a tightly sealed jar.

• If you like it sweeter, add a bit more honey before serving, or swap the banana for another fruit like mango or strawberries.

• You can skip the chia seeds if you don't have any, but they help thicken the texture into a creamier, pudding-like consistency.
