👩🍳 Instructions
- 1 Heat the milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until the sugar dissolves — do not let it boil
- 2 Once it's warm, pour a little into the beaten eggs while stirring (tempering), then combine everything together
- 3 Add the torn bread pieces and mash with your hands until the bread breaks apart and soaks up the liquid
- 4 Add the melted butter and raisins, mix well
- 5 Pour into a square baking pan that has been greased with butter and lightly dusted with flour
- 6 Steam for 30-40 minutes over medium heat (or bake in the oven at 350°F/180°C for 25 minutes)
- 7 Let cool, cut into triangles, and serve with vanilla sauce or sweetened condensed milk
💡 Tips
• Use bread that's slightly dry (you can leave it out to air-dry briefly) so it absorbs the liquid better
• Don't overcook it, as it can turn tough
• Great enjoyed warm or cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
