👩🍳 Instructions
- 1 Sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- 2 Beat the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
- 3 Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract and vinegar.
- 4 Add the red velvet paste and stir until the color is even throughout.
- 5 Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
- 6 Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, until firm.
- 7 In a bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and cornstarch.
- 8 Scoop out 1 tbsp of dough and roll into a ball.
- 9 Roll each ball in the powdered sugar-cornstarch mixture until thickly coated in white.
- 10 Arrange on a baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie as they will spread.
- 11 Bake in the oven at 175°C (350°F) for 10-12 minutes.
- 12 The cookies will look underbaked, but they'll set as they cool.
- 13 Let them rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring.
💡 Tips
• The dough MUST be chilled in the refrigerator until firm so it can be rolled into balls.
• The powdered sugar coating should be thick so the white cracks stand out beautifully against the red.
• Don't over-bake — perfect cookies will look slightly underdone when they come out of the oven.
