👩🍳 Instructions
- 1 Prepare all the filling ingredients: set aside the chocolate sprinkles and grated cheese on separate plates so they're easy to grab during grilling.
- 2 Heat a nonstick skillet or flat griddle over low to medium heat. Don't use high heat, or the bread will burn before it cooks through evenly.
- 3 Spread one side of each slice of white bread evenly with margarine, all the way to the edges.
- 4 Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the hot skillet.
- 5 Right away, sprinkle chocolate sprinkles and grated cheese to taste over the bread on the skillet, spreading evenly to cover the surface.
- 6 Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing up (so both the side touching the skillet and the side facing up are buttered).
- 7 Grill for 2-3 minutes until the bottom side of the bread turns golden and crisp, pressing down gently with a spatula so the filling sticks perfectly.
- 8 Carefully flip the toast using a spatula, and grill the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden and the cheese starts to melt inside.
- 9 Remove the toast and cut it diagonally into 2 or 4 pieces, as you like.
- 10 Drizzle the top with sweetened condensed milk, sprinkle on a little extra grated cheese if you like, and serve while warm.
💡 Tips
• Use low to medium heat and be patient so the bread cooks through evenly to the center without burning on the outside.
• To keep the filling from spilling out, press the edges of the bread with a spatula while grilling so the sprinkles and cheese don't scatter onto the skillet.
• If you like variety, swap the filling for peanut butter, sliced bananas, or Nutella, depending on what you have at home.
• Slightly thicker white bread (the kind made specifically for grilled toast) gives a crispier outside and softer inside compared to regular thin white bread.
