  • 300 grams Ground beef (medium fat, 80/20)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 80 grams Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 50 grams Smoked beef or beef bacon, sliced into small pieces
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder (optional)
  • 50 ml Beef bone broth, for drizzling if desired

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1 Heat a nonstick or cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt.
  2. 2 Sauté the smoked beef or beef bacon briefly until slightly browned and fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. 3 Add the ground beef, pressing it down with a spatula to spread it evenly in the skillet. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. 4 Cook the beef, stirring occasionally, until it changes color and is cooked evenly, about 6-8 minutes. Set aside a bit of the rendered fat—don't discard it.
  5. 5 Make a well in the center of the skillet and lower the heat. Add the remaining butter, then crack the eggs one by one into the empty space.
  6. 6 Cover the skillet and cook the eggs for 2-3 minutes until the whites are set but the yolks are still a bit runny, or to your preferred doneness.
  7. 7 Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the beef and eggs, then cover the skillet again for 1 minute until the cheese melts completely.
  8. 8 If you like it juicier, drizzle a little warm beef bone broth over the top before serving. Serve straight from the skillet while hot.

💡 Tips

• Choose ground beef with about 20% fat content so the result stays juicy and doesn't dry out during cooking.

• Use a cast iron skillet if you have one, since it heats more evenly and gives the edges of the beef a slightly crispy texture.

• If you want the egg yolks fully cooked, cover the skillet a bit longer, about 4-5 minutes, but check periodically so they don't overcook.

• Save the leftover beef fat in the skillet to cook other carnivore dishes like steak or eggs—don't throw it away, since it has a naturally savory flavor.
